وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا [ يَحْيَى ]، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي طَارِقٌ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، قَالَتْ:

أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ نَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ الْجَرَادِ - وَكَانَ نَائِمًا - فَقَالَ أَهْلُهُ: يَرَانَا نَأْكُلُهُ وَلَا يَأْكُلُهُ وَلَا يَنْهَانَا

Translation

✧ We sent to Abū Hurayrah ؓ to ask him about locusts—he was sleeping—and his family said: He sees us eating them, and he neither eats them nor forbids us.
