✧ Desirability of abandoning luxury and indulgence

- وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ:

اشْتَرَى عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ قَمِيصَيْنِ سُنْبُلَانِيَّيْنِ أَنْبِجَانِيَّيْنِ بِسَبْعَةِ دَرَاهِمَ، فَكَسَى قَنْبَرً أَحَدَهُمَا. فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَلْبَسَ إِذَا إِزَارُهُ مَرْقُوعٌ رُقْعَةً مِنْ أَدَمٍ

Translation

✧ 'Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ bought two sunbulani anjijani shirts for seven dirhams, and he clothed Qanbar with one of them. When he wanted to put on [the other], his lower garment had a patch of tanned leather.
