✧ Racing and Archery, and What Has Come About the Virtue of Archery

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ - يَعْنِي الْقَطَّانَ - عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ قَالَ:

لَا بَأْسَ بِرِهَانِ الْخَيْلِ إِذَا كَانَ فِيهَا فَرَسٌ لَيْسَ دُونَهَا، إِنْ سَبَقَ كَانَ لَهُ السَّبَقُ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْبِقْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ

Translation

✧ There is no harm in betting on horses when there is among them a horse that is not below the others; if it wins, it gets the prize, and if it does not win, nothing is due from it.
