✧ Bilal ؓ gave the call to prayer during the life of the Messenger of God ﷺ, then gave the call for Abu Bakr ؓ during his life, and he did not give the call during the time of 'Umar ؓ. 'Umar ؓ said to him: What prevents you from giving the call? He said: I gave the call for the Messenger of God ﷺ until he passed away, and I gave the call for Abu Bakr ؓ until he passed away, because he was my patron. I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: O Bilal, there is nothing better than your deed except jihad in the path of God. So he went out to Syria and fought.
