✧ We were with one of the companions of Muhammad ﷺ one day during an illness he had, and he was unconscious. The Prophet ﷺ came to him and said: 'What were you discussing just now?' He said: 'We were mentioning the martyrs of this Ummah; we only consider one who goes out with his wealth until he is killed.' He ﷺ said: 'The martyrs of my Ummah would then be few. They are martyred by killing, plague, drowning, abdominal disease, a woman dying in childbirth, and her dying in her postpartum period.'

machine translationAbū Bakr b. Ḥafṣ narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Badr b. ʿUthmān narrated it from Abū Bakr b. Ḥafṣ b. ʿUmar b. Saʿd, from his father, from Saʿd, from the Prophet ﷺ. ʿAmr b. Dīnār narrated it from Abū Bakr b. Ḥafṣ as a mursal report from the Prophet ﷺ. Likewise Ḥammād b. Salamah said, from ʿAlī b. Abī al-ʿĀliyah, from Abū Bakr b. Ḥafṣ, from the Prophet ﷺ. And the statement of ʿAmr b. Dīnār is the more likely.
