✧ The Concession to Return for One Who Sees Something Wrong

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ، نَبَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو قَالَ:

إِنَّ رَجُلًا دَعَا عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ؓ إِلَى وَلِيمَةٍ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سَمِعَ لَهْوًا، فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ، فَقَالَ: مَا لَكَ ؟ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: « مَنْ كَثَّرَ سَوَادَ قَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ، وَمَنْ رَضِيَ عَمَلَ قَوْمٍ كَانَ شَرِيكًا لِمَنْ عَمِلَهُ

Translation

✧ A man invited Abdullah b. Masud ؓ to a wedding feast. When he came he heard entertainment, so he did not enter. He said: “What is wrong with you?” He said: “I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: ‘Whoever swells the ranks of a people is one of them, and whoever approves of the action of a people is a partner of the one who did it.’”
