وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، أَنَّهُ لَقِيَ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ ؓ. قَالَ: فَحَدَّثَتْنِي:
إِنَّمَا بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ بَايَعَ النِّسَاءَ، قَالَتْ: فَمَدَدْتُ يَدِي لِأُبَايِعَهُ، فَقَبَضَ يَدَهُ وَقَالَ: « لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ، وَلَكِنْ إِنَّمَا آخُذُ عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْقَوْلِ

✧ I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of God ﷺ on the day he took the pledge from women. She said: I extended my hand to pledge to him, but he withdrew his hand and said: "I do not shake hands with women, but I only take from them by word."
