✧ The pledge of allegiance of women

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ أُمَيْمَةَ ابْنَةِ رُقَيْقَةَ قَالَتْ:
جِئْتُ فِي نِسَاءٍ أُبَايِعُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا أَلَّا نَزْنِيَ، وَلَا نَسْرِقَ، وَهَذِهِ الْآيَةَ، قَالَتْ: فَبَايَعْنَاهُ، فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ: " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ ". قَالَتْ: فَقُلْنَا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَرْحَمُ بِنَا مِنْ أَنْفُسِنَا ! قَالَتْ: فَقُلْنَا: أَلَا نُصَافِحُكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ! فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَا أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ، إِنَّمَا قَوْلِي لِامْرَأَةٍ كَقَوْلِي لِمِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ
Translation
✧ I came among women to pledge allegiance to the Prophet ﷺ, and he stipulated upon us not to commit fornication, not to steal, and this verse. She said: So we pledged allegiance to him, and the Prophet ﷺ stipulated upon us, saying: "In what you are able and capable." She said: We said: Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than ourselves! She said: We said: Shall we not shake your hand, O Messenger of Allah? He said: I do not shake hands with women; my saying to one woman is like my saying to a hundred women.
