✧ The Permission to Make Up Ramadan Fasts with Delay

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلَّامُ بْنُ أَبِي مُطِيعٍ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:

إِنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ، عَنْ قَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ، قَالَ: فَمَا أَدْرِي مَا كَانَتِ الْمُرَاجَعَةُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمَا، فَأَمَرَهُ بِقَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ، قَالَ: وَلَا تَقُلْ إِنَّ أَبَاكَ سَمِعَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ عُمَرَ ؓ

✧ A man asked ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb ؓ about making up Ramadan in the ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. He said: I do not know what the exchange was between them, but he commanded him to make up Ramadan in the ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. He said: Do not say that your father heard that from ʿUmar ؓ.
