✧ The best charity

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ هُوَ ابْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ الْأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ مُنْيَةَ، عَنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ ؓ قَالَ:

كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ تِسْعُ نِسْوَةٍ، فَقَالَ يَوْمًا: خَيْرُكُنَّ أَطْوَلُكُنَّ يَدًا. فَقَامَتْ كُلُّ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ تَضَعُ يَدَهَا عَلَى الْجِدَارِ، فَقَالَ ﷺ: لَسْتُ أَعْنِي هَذَا، وَلَكِنْ أَعْنِي أَصْنَعَكُنَّ يَدًا

Translation

✧ The Prophet ﷺ had nine wives, and one day he said: 'The best of you is the one with the longest hand.' So each one of them stood up and placed her hand on the wall. Then he ﷺ said: 'I do not mean this; rather, I mean the one among you who is most generous with her hand.'
