  • Abū al-Ḥasan Nur al-Dīn ʿAlī b. Abi Bakr al-Haythamī

وفيه عثمان بن عبد الرحمن الجمحي قال أبو حاتم يكتب حديثه ولا يحتج به

machine translationIn it is ʿUthmān b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Jumaḥī. Abū Ḥātim said: "His hadith may be written down, but it is not to be used as evidence (lā yuḥtajju bihi)."

    in المطالب العالية, p. 1150
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

كذا وقع وأظنه انقلب وتحرف فقد قال ابن عدي في ترجمة محمد بن عثمان أنه تفرد به عن هشام

machine translationIt occurred in this way, and I think it was reversed and distorted (inqalaba wa-taḥarrafa), for Ibn ʿAdī said in the biography of Muḥammad b. ʿUthmān that he was alone (tafarrada) in narrating it from Hishām.

    in المطالب العالية, p. 1150
