Sending Abu Musa and Mu'adh to Yemen

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيِّ ؓ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ أَشْرِبَةٍ تُصْنَعُ بِهَا۔ فَقَالَ: «وَمَا هِيَ؟» قَالَ: الْبِتْعُ وَالْمِزْرُ۔ فَقُلْتُ لأَبِي بُرْدَةَ: مَا الْبِتْعُ؟ قَالَ: نَبِيذُ الْعَسَلِ وَالْمِزْرُ نَبِيذُ الشَّعِيرِ۔ فَقَالَ: «كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ».

that he Prophet ﷺ sent him to Yemen, and he asked him about drinks that were made there. He asked, “What are they?” He replied, “Bit' and Mizr.” I said to Abu Burdah, “What is Bit‘?” He said, “It is honey wine, and Mizr is barley wine.” So he said, “Every intoxicant is forbidden.”
