What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

machine translationThere is some criticism (maqāl) in its chain of transmission: Mālik al-Ṭāʾī is unknown (lā yuʿraf), and Muʿāwiyah b. Hishām has some weakness (layyin).

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationMuʿāwiyah b. Hishām erred in it (wahima). Rather, al-Thawrī narrated it from Zayd b. Jubayr, from Khashf, who said: "We used to pray the Ẓuhr prayer with Ibn Masʿūd while the pebbles were leaping from the intensity of the heat," not raised to the Prophet (ghayr marfūʿ).

  • al-Bukhari

  • Mubarakpūri
