أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْجَوَّازُ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ يُحَدِّثُهُ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ:
إِذَا صَلَّى أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَضَعْ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ شَيْئًا وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: " تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ شَيْئًا فَلْيَنْصِبْ عَصًا، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ عَصًا فَلْيَخُطَّ خَطًّا، ثُمَّ لَا يَضُرُّهُ مَا مَرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ". وَقَالَ الْجَوَّازُ: فَلْيَضَعْ تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ شَيْئًا

✧ When one of you prays, he should place something in front of him. And one time he said: "Something in front of his face. If he does not find something, then let him set up a staff. If he does not find a staff, then let him draw a line, then whatever passes in front of him will not harm him." And al-Jawwaz said: "Let him place something in front of his face."
