✧ When we prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ, we said with our hands, “Peace be upon you” to the right and left. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “What is the matter with me that I see your hands as if they were the tails of restive horses? Let one of you be still in prayer.” This is the hadith of Bundar. Others said, “Is it not enough for one of you to place his hand on his thigh, then give the salutation to his right and to his left?” except that Ibn Khashram said in his hadith: “then he gives the salutation from his right and from his left.” In the hadith of Waki‘: “to his brother from his right and from his left.” Al-Hasan b. Muhammad said in the hadith of Yazid: “When we prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we said, ‘Peace be upon Allah, peace be upon Gabriel, peace be upon Michael.’”
