✧ I heard Abu Humayd al-Sa'idi, in the presence of ten of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say: “I am the most knowledgeable of you about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” They said: “You are not the earliest of us in his company nor the longest of us in following him.” He said: “Yes, I am.” They said: “Then show us.” He said: “When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer, he would raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders, then say the takbir and stand upright until every bone settled in its place, straight. Then he would recite. Then he would raise his hands, say the takbir, and bow, placing his palms on his knees, neither hanging his head nor raising it. Then he would say: ‘Allah hears the one who praises Him,’ and raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders, standing upright until every bone settled in its place, straight. Then he would say the takbir and prostrate, keeping his upper arms away from his sides. Then he would raise his head, fold his left leg, and sit on it, spreading the toes of his right foot. Then he would stand and do the same in the other rak'ah. Then he would rise from the two prostrations and do as he did when he began the prayer.”
