أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، وَحَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ - يَعْنِي الثَّقَفِيَّ - قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ. وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ - يَعْنِي الْمَخْزُومِيَّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، وَيَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ. وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَرْقِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ، قَالَ بُنْدَارٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي. وَقَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ: قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا. وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ: قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ. وَقَالَ الْآخَرُونَ: عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ وَاسِعِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ:

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ ابْنَةِ عُمَرَ فَصَعِدْتُ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْبَيْتِ فَأَشْرَفْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَهُوَ عَلَى خَلَائِهِ مُسْتَدْبِرَ الْقِبْلَةِ مُتَوَجِّهًا نَحْوَ الشَّامِ. هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى. وَفِي خَبَرِ أَبِي هِشَامٍ: مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ

✧ I entered upon Hafsah bt. 'Umar and climbed onto the roof of the house, and I looked down upon the Prophet ﷺ while he was on his toilet, with his back to the qiblah, facing towards Syria. This is the wording of the hadith of 'Abd al-A'la. In the report of Abu Hisham: facing the qiblah.
