أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الرَّمْلِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَمْرٍو - وَهُوَ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ - قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، ( ح ) وَحَدَّثَنَا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ - ﷺ

كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ، وَسُورَتَيْنِ مَعَهَا فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَصَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ، وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا، وَكَانَ يُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ. قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَهْلٍ: عَنْ أَبِيهِ. وَقَالَ أَيْضًا: يُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ

✧ He used to recite the Mother of the Qur’an and two surahs with it in the first two rak’ahs of the noon prayer and the afternoon prayer, and sometimes he would let us hear a verse, and he would lengthen the first rak’ah of the noon prayer. Ali b. Sahl said: from his father. He also said: he would lengthen the first rak’ah of the noon prayer.
