✧ We entered upon Mu'awiyah, and the caller called to prayer. He said: Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar. Mu'awiyah said: "Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar." Then he said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. Mu'awiyah said: "And I bear witness." Then he said: I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Mu'awiyah said: "And I bear witness." Then he said: Come to prayer. Mu'awiyah said: "There is no might and no power except with Allah." Then he said: Come to success. Mu'awiyah said: "There is no might and no power except with Allah." Then [he said]: "Thus I heard your Prophet ﷺ say."

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

حديث معاوية في هذا الباب مضطرب الألفاظ وأظن أبا داود إنما تركه لذلك وكذلك البخاري

machine translationThe hadith of Muʿāwiyah in this chapter is inconsistent in its wording (muḍṭarib al-alfāẓ), and I think that Abū Dāwūd left it out for this reason, and likewise al-Bukhārī.
