✧ The permissibility of trade during Hajj

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعَدَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ:
أَنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا فِي أَوَّلِ الْحَجِّ يَتَبَايَعُونَ بِمِنًى وَعَرَفَةَ وَسُوقِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ وَمَوَاسِمِ الْحَجِّ، فَخَافُوا الْبَيْعَ، وَهُمْ حُرُمٌ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فِي مَوَاسِمِ الْحَجِّ )

✧ The people, at the beginning of Hajj, used to trade at Mina, 'Arafah, the market of Dhu al-Majaz, and the Hajj gatherings, but they feared trading while in a state of ihram. So Allah revealed: "There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord during the Hajj gatherings" (Quran 2:198).
