حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْجَوَّازُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي الْحَجَّاجِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ:
بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ أَدْرَكَ الْإِسْلَامَ، وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ وَلَا يَسْتَمْسِكُ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ، وَإِنْ شَدَدْتُهُ بِالْحَبْلِ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ خَشِيتُ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: احْجُجْ عَنْ أَبِيكَ
Translation

✧ It reached me that a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'My father is an old man who has lived to see Islam but has not performed Hajj and cannot keep himself steady on a mount. If I tie him with a rope onto the mount, I fear I might kill him.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Perform Hajj on behalf of your father.'
