حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، [ح ] وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
دَخَلْنَا عَلَى جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَقَالَ: فَأَجَازَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى أَتَى عَرَفَةَ، حَتَّى إِذَا زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ أَمَرَ بِالْقَصْوَاءِ، فَرُحِلَتْ لَهُ فَرَكِبَ حَتَّى أَتَى بَطْنَ الْوَادِي، فَخَطَبَ النَّاسَ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ دِمَاءَكُمْ وَأَمْوَالَكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ حَرَامٌ كَحُرْمَةِ يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا فِي شَهْرِكُمْ هَذَا فِي بَلَدِكُمْ هَذَا، أَلَا وَإِنَّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مَوْضُوعٌ تَحْتَ قَدَمَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ، وَدِمَاءُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مَوْضُوعَةٌ، وَأَوَّلُ دَمٍ أَضَعُهُ، دِمَاءَنَا دَمَ ابْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ كَانَ مُسْتَرْضَعًا فِي بَنِي سَعْدٍ فَقَتَلَتْهُ هُذَيْلٌ، وَرِبَا الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مَوْضُوعٌ، وَأَوَّلُ رِبًا أَضَعُهُ رِبَانَا رِبَا الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ مَوْضُوعٌ كُلُّهُ اتَّقُوا اللهَ فِي النِّسَاءِ، فَإِنَّكُمْ أَخَذْتُمُوهُنَّ بِأَمَانَةِ اللهِ، وَاسْتَحْلَلْتُمْ فُرُوجَهُنَّ بِكَلِمَةِ اللهِ، وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِنَّ أَلَّا يُوطِئْنَ فُرُشَكُمْ أَحَدًا تَكْرَهُونَهُ، فَإِنْ فَعَلْنَ فَاضْرِبُوهُنَّ ضَرْبًا غَيْرَ مُبَرِّحٍ، وَلَهُنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ، وَإِنِّي قَدْ تَرَكْتُ فِيكُمْ مَا لَنْ تَضِلُّوا بَعْدَهُ إِنِ اعْتَصَمْتُمْ بِهِ؛ كِتَابَ اللهِ، وَأَنْتُمْ مَسْئُولُونَ عَنِّي، فَمَا أَنْتُمْ قَائِلُونَ ؟ " فَقَالُوا: نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّكَ، وَنَصَحْتَ لِأُمَّتِكَ، وَقَضَيْتَ الَّذِي عَلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ يَرْفَعُهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، وَيُنَكِّسُهَا إِلَى النَّاسِ: " اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدِ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ

✧ We entered upon Jabir b. Abdullah, and he mentioned the hadith, and said: The Messenger of God ﷺ moved on until he came to Arafah, until when the sun had declined he ordered for al-Qaswa, so it was saddled for him, and he rode until he came to the bottom of the valley. Then he addressed the people and said: Indeed your blood and your wealth are sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Behold, every matter of the people of the pre-Islamic era is laid under these two feet of mine, and the blood of the pre-Islamic era is abolished, and the first blood I abolish is our blood, the blood of Ibn Rabi'ah b. al-Harith, who was being nursed among Banu Sa'd and was killed by Hudhayl. And the usury of the pre-Islamic era is abolished, and the first usury I abolish is our usury, the usury of al-Abbas b. Abd al-Muttalib; for it is abolished, all of it. Fear God regarding women, for you took them as a trust from God and made their private parts lawful by the word of God. And you have rights over them that they should not let anyone you dislike sit on your beds. If they do that, then beat them with a non-severe beating. And they have rights over you for their provision and clothing according to what is reasonable. And I have left among you that which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray after me: the Book of God. And you will be asked about me, so what will you say? They said: We bear witness that you have conveyed the messages of your Lord, advised your community, and discharged what was upon you. Then he raised his forefinger to the sky and pointed it down toward the people, saying: O God, bear witness, O God, bear witness.
