✧ I was a man given such ability in intercourse with women as no one else was given. When Ramadan entered, I made ẓihār from my wife, fearing that I might have something with her in some part of the night and continue in that without being able to stop until morning overtook me. While she was one night serving me, something of her became visible, so I jumped on her. When morning came, I went to my people and told them my news. I said: Come with me to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so I may inform him. They said: No, by Allah, we will not go with you. We fear that Qur’an may be revealed concerning us, or the Messenger of Allah ﷺ may say something about us whose shame will remain upon us. Go yourself and do what seems best to you. So I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him of my news. He said: “You did that?” I said: I did that, and here I am, so carry out Allah’s judgment upon me, for I am patient and expecting reward. He said: “Free a slave.” I struck the side of my neck with my hand and said: By the One who sent you with the truth, I have not become morning owning anything other than it. He said: “Fast two consecutive months.” I said: O Messenger of Allah, nothing befell me except in fasting. He said: “Feed sixty poor people.” I said: O Messenger of Allah, by the One who sent you with the truth, we spent this night of ours hungry, with no supper. He said: “Go to the collector of the charity, the charity of Banū Zurayq, and order him to give it to you. Feed from it a wasq to sixty poor people, and use the rest of it for your dependents.” So I came to my people and said: I found with you hardship.
