2585 2343 2343 - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُزَيْزٍ الْأَيْلِيِّ، فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ سَلَامَةَ حَدَّثَهُمْ عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ بِمِثْلِهِ، وَقَالَ: وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَ أَبَوَيْنَا مَا يُصْدِقَانِ عَنَّا، وَزَادَ قَالَ: فَرَجَعْنَا وَعَلِيٌّ مَكَانَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَخْبِرَانَا مَا جِئْتُمَا بِهِ. قَالَا: وَجَدْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَبَرَّ النَّاسِ وَأَوْصَلَهُمْ. قَالَ:
هَلِ اسْتَعْمَلَكُمَا عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الصَّدَقَةِ ؟ قَالَا: لَا، بَلْ صَنَعَ بِنَا خَيْرًا مِنْ ذَلِكِ أَنْكَحَنَا، وَأَصْدَقَ عَنَّا، فَقَالَ: أَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ أَلَمْ أَكُنْ أَخْبَرْتُكُمَا أَنَّهُ لَنْ يَسْتَعْمِلَكُمَا عَلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الصَّدَقَةِ. قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: هَذِهِ اللَّفْظَةُ أَنْكَحَنَا مِنَ الْجِنْسِ الَّذِي أَقُولُ: إِنَّ الْعَرَبَ تُضِيفُ الْفِعْلَ إِلَى الْآمِرِ كَمَا تُضِيفُهُ إِلَى الْفَاعِلِ، وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّمَا أَمَرَ بِإِنْكَاحِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، وَالْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَفُعِلَ ذَلِكَ بِأَمْرِهِ، فَأُضِيفَ الْإِنْكَاحُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِذْ هُوَ الْآمِرُ بِهِ، إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ هُوَ مُتَوَلِّيًا عَقْدَ النِّكَاحِ::

✧ Did he appoint the two of you to anything of this zakat? They said: No, rather he did better for us than that: he married us and paid dowers on our behalf. He said: I am Abu al-Hasan; did I not tell you that he would never appoint you to anything of this zakat? Abu Bakr said: This expression "he married us" is of the kind I say: that the Arabs attribute the action to the commander as they attribute it to the doer. The Prophet ﷺ only commanded the marriage of 'Abd al-Muttalib and al-Fadl b. 'Abbas, and it was done by his command, so the marriage was attributed to the Prophet ﷺ since he is the one who commanded it, even if he did not himself undertake the marriage contract.
