✧ The collective chapters on the charity of livestock: camels, cattle, and sheep

حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ، وَأَبُو مُوسَى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالُوا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ:

أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ لَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ كَتَبَ لَهُ حِينَ وَجَّهَهُ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ فَكَتَبَ لَهُ هَذَا الْكِتَابَ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، هَذِهِ فَرِيضَةُ الصَّدَقَةِ الَّتِي فَرَضَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ الَّتِي أَمَرَ اللهُ بِهَا رَسُولَهُ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ، وَقَالَ: " وَلَا تَخْرُجُ فِي الصَّدَقَةِ هَرِمَةٌ، وَلَا ذَاتُ عَوَارٍ، وَلَا تَيْسًا إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ الْمُصَدِّقُ ".

✧ That when Abu Bakr was appointed caliph, he wrote for him when he sent him to Bahrain. He wrote this letter for him: "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. This is the obligation of charity that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ imposed upon the Muslims, which Allah commanded His Messenger. And he mentioned the hadith, and said: 'No decrepit animal, nor one with a defect, nor a billy goat may be given in charity, unless the charity collector so wishes.'"
