✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent for me and said, 'Have I not been told that you stand in prayer at night and fast during the day?' He mentioned the hadith in full, and said: The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Fast the fast of Dawud, for he was the most worshipful of people; he would fast one day and break his fast one day.' Then he said, 'You do not know, perhaps your life will be prolonged.' He said, 'I wish I had accepted the concession that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded me.'
