حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ - وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَرِيرٍ - قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ - هُوَ الزِّمَّانِيُّ - عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ، إِنِّي لَأَحْسَبُ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ، وَصِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ فَإِنِّي لَأَحْسَبُ عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ وَالَّتِي بَعْدَهُ

✧ Fasting the day of Ashura – I consider that Allah will expiate the sins of the year before it. And fasting the day of 'Arafah – I consider that Allah will expiate the sins of the year before it and the year after it.
