حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ. وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ:
وَاصَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، فَوَاصَلَ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، فَبَلَغَهُ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: " لَوْ مُدَّ لَنَا الشَّهْرُ لَوَاصَلْتُ وِصَالًا، يَدَعُ الْمُتَعَمِّقُونَ التَّعَمُّقَ، لَسْتُمْ مِثْلِي، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ، فَيُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي

✧ The Prophet ﷺ fasted continuously during the month of Ramadan, and some of the Muslims fasted continuously. This reached him, so he said: If the month were extended for us, I would fast continuously in such a way that those who go to extremes would abandon their extremism. You are not like me; I remain in the shade, and my Lord feeds me and gives me drink.
