أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ شُبَيْلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:
لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنْ مَدِينَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي، وَحَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي، فَلَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي، فَدَخَلْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ، فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسٍ لِي: يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ، هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، ذَكَرَكَ بِأَحْسَنِ الذِّكْرِ، بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ، قَالَ: إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ أَوْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ، وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ لَمَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ. قَالَ: فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ عَلَى مَا أَبْلَانِي

✧ When I approached the city of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I made my camel kneel, untied my saddlebag, put on my fine suit, and entered while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was delivering the sermon. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ greeted me, and the people stared at me. I said to the one sitting next to me, "O servant of Allah, has the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned anything about me?" He said, "Yes, he mentioned you in the best way. While he was preaching, it occurred in his sermon that he said, 'There will enter upon you from this door or from this mountain pass one of the best of the people of Yemen, and on his face there is the touch of an angel.'" He said, "So I praised Allah for what He had bestowed upon me."

machine translationIbn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ismāʿīl, from Qays, from Jarīr. ʿĪsā b. Yūnus corroborated him, in the narration of Hāshim b. ʿUmar al-Ḥimṣī, known as Shaqrān, from him. Marwān al-Fazārī and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Maghrāʾ narrated it from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī, who said: "It was narrated to me from the Prophet ﷺ." Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq narrated it from al-Mughīrah b. Shubayl, from Jarīr, and this is the correct one.
