أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ( يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ )، وَعُثْمَانُ ( يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ ) - قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

حُبِسْنَا يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ، حَتَّى كَانَ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ بِهَوِيٍّ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، حَتَّى كُفِينَا، وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ: وَكَفَى اللهُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الْقِتَالَ وَكَانَ اللهُ قَوِيًّا عَزِيزًا، فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِلَالًا، فَأَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ، فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الظُّهْرَ كَأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانَ يُصَلِّيهَا، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ، فَصَلَّى الْعَصْرَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ، فَصَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ أَقَامَ، فَصَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ كَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْزِلَ صَلَاةُ الْخَوْفِ فَرِجَالًا أَوْ رُكْبَانًا

✧ We were detained on the Day of the Trench from prayer until after sunset, with a portion of the night having passed, until we were relieved. That is His saying: 'And Allah sufficed the believers in battle; and Allah is Strong, Mighty.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called Bilal, and he gave the iqamah for prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed Zuhr as beautifully as he used to pray it. Then he gave the iqamah and prayed 'Asr likewise. Then he gave the iqamah and prayed Maghrib likewise. Then he gave the iqamah and prayed 'Isha' likewise, before the prayer of fear was revealed: either on foot or mounted.
