أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُطِيلُ فِي أَوَّلِ رَكْعَةٍ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ وَالظُّهْرِ، فَكُنَّا نَرَى أَنَّهُ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ لِيَتَآدَى النَّاسُ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to lengthen the first rak'ah of Fajr and Zuhr, and we used to think that he did that so that the people could catch up.
