أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ( ح ) وَحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ ( ح ) وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ - قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ( ح ) وَحَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ( ح ) وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَمَّارٍ وَسَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ. قَالَ أَبُو عَمَّارٍ: قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا فِطْرُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ. وَقَالَ سَلْمٌ: عَنْ فِطْرٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ، فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ، فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي السُّنَّةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ فِي الْهِجْرَةِ، فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا ". هَذَا حَدِيثُ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ. وَفِي حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ: " أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللهِ، وَأَقْدَمُهُمْ قِرَاءَةً

✧ "The people should be led by the one most versed in the Book of Allah among them. If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable of them in the Sunnah. If they are equal in the Sunnah, then the earliest of them in migration. If they are equal in migration, then the oldest of them." This is the hadith of Abu Mu'awiyah. In the hadith of Shu'bah: "The most versed in the Book of Allah among them, and the earliest in recitation."
