✧ Virtue of Walking to the Mosques from Dwellings Far from the Mosques for the Abundance of Steps

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ:

كَانَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بَيْتُهُ أَقْصَى بَيْتٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، فَكَانَ لَا تُخْطِئُهُ الصَّلَاةُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَتَوَجَّعْتُ لَهُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا فُلَانُ، لَوْ أَنَّكَ اشْتَرَيْتَ حِمَارًا يَقِيكَ الرَّمَضَ، وَيَرْفَعُكَ مِنَ الْمَوْقِعِ، وَيَقِيكَ هَوَامَّ الْأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي وَاللهِ مَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّ بَيْتِيَ مُطَنَّبٌ بِبَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ. قَالَ: فَحَمَلْتُ بِهِ حِمْلًا حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قَالَ: فَدَعَاهُ فَسَأَلَهُ، فَذَكَرَ لَهُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ يَرْجُو فِي أَمْرِهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ لَكَ مَا احْتَسَبْتَ. وَفِي حَدِيثِ الصَّنْعَانِيِّ: فَأَخْبَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، لِكَيْمَا يُكْتَبَ أَثَرِي وَرُجُوعِي إِلَى أَهْلِي وَإِقْبَالِي إِلَيْهِ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ قَالَ: " أَعْطَاكَ اللهُ ذَلِكَ كُلَّهُ، وَأَعْطَاكَ مَا احْتَسَبْتَ أَجْمَعَ

✧ There was a man from the Ansar whose house was the farthest house in Madinah, and he never missed prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I felt sorry for him and said, "O so-and-so, if only you bought a donkey to protect you from the heat, lift you from the low ground, and protect you from the vermin of the earth." He said, "By Allah, I would not love that my house be adjacent to the house of Muhammad ﷺ." He said, "I carried a burden for him until I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He called him and asked him, and he mentioned the same to him, and mentioned that he hoped for reward in his affair. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, 'You shall have what you hoped for.' In the hadith of al-San'ani: 'I informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he asked him about that. He said, "O Prophet of Allah, so that my footsteps may be recorded, and my returning to my family and my coming to it," or as he said. He said, "Allah has given you all of that, and has given you all that you hoped for."'
