✧ Abdullah b. Amr passed by Muadh b. Jabal while he was standing at his door gesturing with his hand, as if he were talking to himself. Abdullah said to him, "What is the matter with you, O Abu Abd al-Rahman, that you are talking to yourself?" He said, "What is wrong with me? Does the enemy of Allah want to distract me from words I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said, 'You strive your whole life now in your house, not going out to the gathering to speak? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever strives in the path of Allah is guaranteed by Allah, and whoever visits a sick person is guaranteed by Allah, and whoever goes to the mosque in the morning or returns in the evening is guaranteed by Allah, and whoever enters upon an imam to visit him is guaranteed by Allah, and whoever sits in his house and does not backbite anyone with evil is guaranteed by Allah.' So the enemy of Allah wants to get me out of my house to the gathering."
