✧ The sun eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood and prolonged the standing until it was said: 'He will not bow.' Then he bowed and prolonged the bowing until it was said: 'He will not raise his head.' Then he raised his head and prolonged the standing until it was said: 'He will not prostrate.' Then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration until it was said: 'He will not raise his head.' Then he raised his head and sat until it was said: 'He will not prostrate.' Then he prostrated, then he stood and did the same in the second rak'ah. Then the sun became clear.

machine translationʿAṭāʾ b. al-Sāʾib is disputed as to whether he can be used as evidence, and he became confused (ikhtalaṭa) at the end of his life. However, Ibn Khuzaymah reported it from the narration of Sufyān al-Thawrī from him, and he is among those who heard from him before his confusion. As for his father, al-ʿIjlī and Ibn Ḥibbān declared him trustworthy (thiqah).
in صحيح ابن خزيمة, p. 1574
