✧ We were with Sa'id b. al-'As at Tabaristan, and with him were a group of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ. He said to them: 'Which of you witnessed the prayer of fear with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' Hudhayfah said: 'I did. Command your companions to stand as two groups: one group of them facing the enemy and one group of them behind you. You say the takbir and they all say the takbir. Then you bow and they bow. Then you rise and they all rise. Then you prostrate and the group that is near you prostrates, while the other group stands facing the enemy. When you raise your head, those near you stand and the others prostrate. Then you bow and they all bow. Then you prostrate and the group that is near you prostrates, while the other group stands facing the enemy. When you raise your head from prostration, those facing the enemy prostrate. Then you say the taslim upon them. And command your companions that if the enemy attacks them with an assault, fighting and speaking have become permissible for them.'"
