حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، ( ح ) وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً، كَانَ يُوتِرُ بِخَمْسِ سَجَدَاتٍ - يَعْنِي رَكَعَاتٍ - لَا يُسَلِّمُ فِيهِنَّ، فَيَجْلِسُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ، ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمُ. هَذَا حَدِيثُ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ. وَقَالَ بُنْدَارٌ: وَيُوتِرُ مِنْهُنَّ بِخَمْسٍ، وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ إِلَّا فِي آخِرِهِنَّ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray thirteen rak'ahs at night, performing Witr with five prostrations — meaning rak'ahs — without saying the salam in any of them, then he sat in the last one and said the salam. This is the hadith of Abu Usamah. Bundar said: And he performed Witr from them with five, and did not say the salam except in the last of them.

ذكر قوم من رواة هذا الحديث عن هشام أنه كان يوتر ذلك بخمس لا يجلس في شيء من الخمس ركعات إلا في آخرهن رواه حماد بن سلمة وأبو عوانة ووهيب وغيرهم وأكثر الحفاظ رووه عن هشام كما رواه مالك والرواية المخالفة له إنما حدث بها عن هشام أهل العراق وما حدث به هشام قبل خروجه إلى العراق أصح عندهم
