أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْغَافِقِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ:
قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي، ثُمَّ بَسَطَ يَدَهُ كَأَنَّهُ يَتَنَاوَلُ شَيْئًا، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ، قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَأَيْنَاكَ بَسَطْتَ يَدَكَ قَالَ: إِنَّ عَدُوَّ اللهِ إِبْلِيسَ جَاءَ بِشِهَابٍ مِنْ نَارٍ لِيَجْعَلَهُ فِي وَجْهِي، فَقُلْتُ: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْكَ، فَلَمْ يَسْتَأْخِرْ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ أَرَدْتُ أَخْذَهُ، وَلَوْلَا دَعْوَةُ أَخِينَا سُلَيْمَانَ ﷺ لَأَصْبَحَ مُوثَقًا، يَلْعَبُ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood praying, then he stretched out his hand as if taking something. When he finished the prayer, we said: O Messenger of Allah, we saw you stretch out your hand. He said: The enemy of Allah, Iblis, came with a flame of fire to put it in my face. I said: I seek refuge in Allah from you, three times, but he did not retreat. Then I wanted to seize him. Were it not for the supplication of our brother Sulayman ﷺ, he would have been bound by morning, and the children of the people of Madinah would have played with him.
