[ يَعُوقُ وَعَبَدَتُهُ ] قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: وَخَيْوَانُ بَطْنٌ مِنْ هَمْدَانَ، اتَّخَذُوا يَعُوقَ بِأَرْضِ هَمْدَانَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْيَمَنِ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَقَالَ مَالِكُ بْنُ نَمَطٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ:: يَرِيشُ اللَّهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَيَبْرِي وَلَا يَبْرِي يَعُوقُ وَلَا يَرِيشُ وَهَذَا الْبَيْتُ فِي أَبْيَاتٍ لَهُ
Translation
✧ [Yaʿūq and its worshippers] Ibn Isḥāq said: Khaywān is a sub-tribe of Hamdān; they adopted Yaʿūq in the land of Hamdān in the land of Yemen. Ibn Hishām said: Mālik b. Namaṭ al-Hamdānī said: "God feathers in this world and clips; neither does Yaʿūq clip nor feather." This verse is among verses of his.
