غَزْوَةُ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ بِالْكَدَرِ قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ ( رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ) لَمْ يَقُمْ بِهَا إلَّا سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ ( حَتَّى ) غَزَا بِنَفْسِهِ، يُرِيدُ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَاسْتَعْمَلَ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ سِبَاعَ بْنَ عُرْفُطَةَ الْغِفَارِيَّ، أَوْ ابْنَ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ. قَالَ ابْنُ إسْحَاقَ: فَبَلَغَ مَاءً مِنْ مِيَاهِهِمْ؛ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْكُدْرُ، فَأَقَامَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إلَى الْمَدِينَةِ، وَلَمْ يَلْقَ كَيْدًا، فَأَقَامَ بِهَا بَقِيَّةَ شَوَّالٍ وَذَا الْقَعَدَةِ، وَأَفْدَى فِي إقَامَتِهِ تِلْكَ جُلُّ الْأُسَارَى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ.
Translation
✧ The expedition of Banū Sulaym at al-Kadar. Ibn Isḥāq said: When the Messenger of God ﷺ arrived, he stayed only seven nights before he raided in person, intending Banū Sulaym. Ibn Hishām said: He appointed over Madinah Sibāʿ b. ʿUrfuṭah al-Ghifārī, or Ibn Umm Maktūm. Ibn Isḥāq said: He reached a water source of theirs called al-Kudr, and stayed there three nights, then returned to Madinah without meeting any treachery. He stayed there the rest of Shawwāl and Dhū al-Qaʿdah, and during that stay he ransomed most of the captives from Quraysh.
