The number of Aws who were present at Badr
[ مِنْ بَنِي الْأَبْجَرِ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي الْأَبْجَرِ، وَهُمْ بَنُو خُدْرَةَ بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رَبِيعِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ الْأَبْجَرِ رَجُلٌ. [ مِنْ بَنِي عَوْفٍ ] وَمِنْ بَنِي عَوْفِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ، ثُمَّ مِنْ بَنِي عُبَيْدِ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ سَالِمِ بْنِ غَنْمِ بْنِ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْخَزْرَجِ، وَهُمْ بَنُو الْحُبْلَى - قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: الْحُبْلَى: سَالِمُ بْنُ غَنْمِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَإِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْحُبْلَى، لِعِظَمِ بَطْنِهِ -: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيِّ بْنِ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ( الْمَشْهُورُ بِابْنِ سَلُولَ )، وَإِنَّمَا سَلُولُ امْرَأَةٌ، وَهِيَ أُمُّ أُبَيٍّ: وَأَوْسُ بْنُ خَوْلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ. رَجُلَانِ
Translation
✧ [From Banū al-Abjar] And from Banū al-Abjar—they are Banū Khudrah b. ʿAwf b. al-Ḥārith b. al-Khazraj—ʿAbd Allāh b. Rabīʿ b. Qays b. ʿAmr b. ʿAbbād b. al-Abjar: one man. [From Banū ʿAwf] And from Banū ʿAwf b. al-Khazraj, then from Banū ʿUbayd b. Mālik b. Sālim b. Ghanm b. ʿAwf b. al-Khazraj—they are Banū al-Ḥublā. Ibn Hishām said: Al-Ḥublā is Sālim b. Ghanm b. ʿAwf; he was named al-Ḥublā only because of the largeness of his belly—: ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ubayy b. Mālik b. al-Ḥārith b. ʿUbayd (well-known as Ibn Salūl; Salūl was a woman, the mother of Ubayy), and Aws b. Khawlī b. ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḥārith b. ʿUbayd: two men.
