The names of the Muslims' horses on the day of Badr

أَسَمَاءُ خَيْلِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَحَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ: أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ مِنْ الْخَيْلِ، فَرَسُ مَرْثَدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْثَدٍ الْغَنَوِيِّ، وَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: السَّبَلُ؛ وَفَرَسُ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْبَهْرَانِيِّ، وَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: بَعْزَجَةُ، وَيُقَالُ: سَبْحَةُ؛ وَفَرَسُ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْعَوَّامِ، وَكَانَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْيَعْسُوبُ.

Translation

✧ The Names of the Muslims' Horses on the Day of Badr. Ibn Hishām said: Some of the people of knowledge related to me that with the Muslims on the day of Badr there were horses: the horse of Marthad b. Abī Marthad al-Ghanawī, and it was called al-Sabal; and the horse of al-Miqdād b. ʿAmr al-Bahrānī, and it was called Baʿzajah, and it is also said Sabḥah; and the horse of al-Zubayr b. al-ʿAwwām, and it was called al-Yaʿsūb.
