The reason for their enmity
وَمِنْ يَهُودِ بَنِي النَّجَّارِ: سِلْسِلَةُ بْنُ بَرْهَامَ. فَهَؤُلَاءِ أَحْبَارُ الْيَهُودِ، أَهْلُ الشُّرُورِ وَالْعَدَاوَةِ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابِهِ، وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَسْأَلَةِ، وَالنَّصْبُ لِأَمْرِ الْإِسْلَامِ الشُّرُورَ لِيُطْفِئُوهُ، إلَّا مَا كَانَ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ وَمُخَيْرِيقٍ.
Translation
✧ And among the Jews of the Banū al-Najjār: Silsilah b. Barhām. These are the rabbis of the Jews, the people of evils and enmity toward the Messenger of God ﷺ and his companions, and the people of questioning, and the ones who set up evils against the affair of Islam to extinguish it—except for what was from ʿAbd Allāh b. Salām and Mukhayrīq.
