Christianity in Najran
[ النَّصْرَانِيَّةُ بِنَجْرَانَ ] وَبِنَجْرَانَ بَقَايَا مِنْ أَهْلِ دِينِ عِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَى الْإِنْجِيلِ، أَهْلِ فَضْلٍ، وَاسْتِقَامَةٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ دِينِهِمْ، لَهُمْ رَأْسٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الثَّامِرِ، وَكَانَ مَوْقِعُ أَصْلِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينِ بِنَجْرَانَ، وَهِيَ بِأَوْسَطِ أَرْضِ الْعَرَبِ فِي ذَلِكَ الزَّمَانِ، وَأَهْلُهَا وَسَائِرُ الْعَرَبِ كُلِّهَا أَهْلُ أَوْثَانٍ يَعْبُدُونَهَا، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَقَايَا أَهْلِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينِ يُقَالُ لَهُ فَيْمِيُونُ - وَقَعَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ، فَحَمَلَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ، فَدَانُوا بِهِ
Translation
✧ [ Christianity in Najran ] And in Najran there were remnants of the people of the religion of ʿĪsā ibn Maryam ﷺ, adhering to the Injīl, people of virtue and uprightness among the people of their religion. They had a leader called ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Thāmir. The origin of that religion was established in Najran, which lies in the middle of the land of the Arabs at that time, while its people and all the rest of the Arabs were people of idols whom they worshipped. That was because a man from the remnants of the people of that religion, called Faymiyyūn, came among them and brought them to it, so they professed it.
