Salmān and his suggestion to dig the trench
[ سَلْمَانُ وَإِشَارَتُهُ بِحَفْرِ الْخَنْدَقِ ] قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: يُقَالُ: إنَّ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيَّ أَشَارَ بِهِ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ. وَحَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ: أَنَّ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ قَالُوا: سَلْمَانُ مِنَّا؛ وَقَالَتْ الْأَنْصَارُ: سَلْمَانُ مِنَّا؛ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: سَلْمَانُ مِنَّا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ
Translation
✧ Salmān and his advice to dig the trench Ibn Hishām said: It is said that Salmān al-Fārisī advised it to the Messenger of God ﷺ. And a certain scholar related to me that on the day of the trench the Emigrants said, “Salmān is one of us,” and the Helpers said, “Salmān is one of us,” so the Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Salmān is one of us, the people of the house.”
