Sahih Ibn Hibban 936

Remove sins from the worshipper by virtue of the Chosen One, ﷺ .

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الزُّرَقِيُّ بِطَرَسُوسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

عَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا قَدْ صَارَ مِثْلَ الْفَرْخِ فَقَالَ «مَا كُنْتَ تَدْعُو بِشَيْءٍ أَوْ تَسْأَلُ؟ » قَالَ كُنْتُ أَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ مَا كُنْتَ مُعَاقِبَنِي بِهِ فِي الْآخِرَةِ فَعَجِّلْهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَقَالَ «سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ لَا تَسْتَطِيعُهُ أَوْ لَا تُطِيقُهُ قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ»

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ visited a sick man who had become like a chick. He said: 'What were you asking for or supplicating for?' He said: 'I used to say: "O Allah, whatever punishment You would inflict on me in the Hereafter, hasten it in this world."' He said: 'Glory be to Allah! You cannot bear it, or you cannot endure it. Say: "O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."'

    الصحيح عن حميد عن ثابت عن أنس قلت من روى هكذا فقالا خالد بن الحارث والأنصاري وغيرهما قلت فهؤلاء أخطؤوا قالا لا ولكن قصروا وكان حميدا كثيرا ما يرسل

    machine translationThe sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version is from Ḥumayd, from Thābit, from Anas. I said: "What about those who narrated it in this way?" They said: "Khālid b. al-Ḥārith, al-Anṣārī and others." I said: "So did these make a mistake?" They said: "No, but they shortened it, and Ḥumayd would often narrate in mursal form."
