✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Muhammad, 'Abd al-Muttalib was better for his people than you: he fed them liver and hump, while you slaughter them.' He said to him: 'Whatever Allah wills.' When he wanted to leave, he said: 'What should I say?' He said: 'Say: O Allah, protect me from the evil of my soul and resolve for me the most rightly-guided of my affairs.' The man left before he had accepted Islam, then said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I came to you and said: Teach me. You said: "O Allah, protect me from the evil of my soul and resolve for me the most rightly-guided of my affairs." So what should I say now that I have accepted Islam?' He said: 'Say: O Allah, protect me from the evil of my soul and resolve for me the most rightly-guided of my affairs. O Allah, forgive me what I conceal and what I reveal, what I do mistakenly and what I do deliberately, and what I am ignorant of.'
