أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَاءَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمُرَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدِّيلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ

أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالْأَجْرِ يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ قَالَ ﷺ «أَولَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ مَا تَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِهِ كُلُّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَكُلُّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَأَمْرٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَنَهْيٌ عَنِ مُنْكَرٍ صَدَقَةٌ»

✧ Some people from the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the Prophet ﷺ, 'O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy have gone with the reward. They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, and they give charity from the surplus of their wealth.' He ﷺ said, 'Has Allah not given you that which you may give in charity? Every tasbihah is a charity, every takbirah is a charity, every tahmidah is a charity, every tahlilah is a charity, commanding good is a charity, and forbidding evil is a charity.'

    يرويه واصل مولى أبي عيينة واختلف عنه فرواه مهدي بن ميمون عن واصل عن يحيى بن عقيل عن يحيى بن يعمر عن أبي الأسود عن أبي ذر ورواه هشام بن حسان وحماد بن زيد وعباد بن عباد المهلبي عن واصل عن يحيى بن عقيل عن يحيى بن يعمر عن أبي ذر وقول مهدي هو الصحيح

    machine translationWāṣil, the freedman (mawlā) of Abū ʿUyaynah, transmits it, and there is disagreement about him. Mahdī b. Maymūn narrated it from Wāṣil, from Yaḥyā b. ʿAqīl, from Yaḥyā b. Yaʿmar, from Abū al-Aswad, from Abū Dharr. Hishām b. Ḥassān, Ḥammād b. Zayd and ʿAbbād b. ʿAbbād al-Muhallabī narrated it from Wāṣil, from Yaḥyā b. ʿAqīl, from Yaḥyā b. Yaʿmar, from Abū Dharr. The statement of Mahdī is the correct (ṣaḥīḥ) one.
