✧ I said to Ubayy b. Ka'b, 'Ibn Mas'ud does not write the two Mu'awwidhat in his mushaf.' He said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Jibril said to me, {Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak}, and I said it, and he said to me, {Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind}, and I said it." So we say what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.'

machine translationThe hadith of al-Thawrī from Ubayy is more sound (aṣaḥḥ); he is the best memorizer among them and is higher than these by several degrees. The hadith is more fitting as from Ubayy, since ʿĀṣim narrated it from Zirr, from Ubayy, from the Prophet ﷺ, and Ḥudhayfah has nothing from the Prophet ﷺ concerning the two Muʿawwidhatayn that carries any weight.
