أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ الْعَابِدُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي صَعْصَعَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَمِعَ رَجُلًا يَقْرَأُ {قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ} يُرَدِّدُهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَكَأَنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَتَقَالُّهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهَا لَتَعْدِلُ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ»

✧ A man heard another man reciting {Qul huwa Allahu ahad}, repeating it. When morning came, he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned that to him, and the man seemed to belittle it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “By the One in whose hand is my soul, it is equal to a third of the Quran.”

Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, Abū Ṣafwān al-Umawī ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd b. ʿAbd al-Malik b. Marwān, and ʿAbbād b. Ṣuhayb differed from them, and narrated it from Mālik, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAbdullāh, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd, from his brother Qatādah b. al-Nuʿmān, from the Prophet ﷺ. They also differed regarding Mālik about the name of Ibn Abī Ṣaʿṣaʿah; the correct statement is that of Abū Maʿmar al-Quṭaʿī from Ismāʿīl b. Jaʿfar, and it is the right one.
